Treat Yourself III

9/1/2020

When you self-treat what do you need?  If you're not sure that is okay and if you know what you need to help yourself awesome!
Either way take a few grounding breaths and scan your body.  What is your body telling you?  This may take a second or it may take you a few minutes to really tap into yourself and notice.
Noticing is the biggest key to understanding where you need to work.  Not just where you need to start but also where else to treat as you are in the actual process of self-treating.
With that said breath is also part of the biggest key.  Deep breaths or even simply bringing your attention to your breath and into your body allows you to notice.  And, this act of noticing helps you feel where to self-treat.  Now back to my original question...when you self-treat what do you need?  Or even, where do you need it?
While working on yourself and during a hands on treatment you feel different sensations through the process.  It helps to make a mind-body connection of these feelings by describing with words what you feel.  Next month I will be sharing words that can help you describe what you feel!

"After my 4th pregnancy, I was experiencing quite a bit of what I thought was lower back pain.  Through working with Valerie I was able to think about the location and communicate where and when the pain really occurred.  While I occasionally experience some discomfort, the severity of my pain has diminished.  I have also been able to take away self-treatment techniques to awaken my neck and back muscles to alleviate some of my posture concerns."
